Description
The East Caribbean dollar is the official currency of eight members of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, including Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the British overseas territories of Anguilla and Montserrat.
Issued by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the dollar is pegged at a fixed rate of 2.70 to the United States dollar. It is subdivided into 100 cents and is commonly denoted as EC$ to distinguish it from other dollar‑denominated currencies. The shared nature of the currency across several sovereign states makes it a unique example of regional monetary cooperation.
