The Tanzanian shilling is the official currency of the United Republic of Tanzania, a country in East Africa. It is issued by the Bank of Tanzania and is denoted by the symbol TSh. The shilling is subdivided into 100 cents, although the cent is no longer used in everyday transactions due to inflation.

Introduced in 1966 to replace the East African shilling, the Tanzanian shilling has remained relatively stable, with banknotes ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 shillings and coins up to 200 shillings. The currency’s native name is "Shilingi ya Kitanzania," reflecting the dominant Swahili language, while English is also an official language.
