Description
The Turkish lira is the official currency of Turkey, issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. It is subdivided into 100 kuruş, and the symbol ₺ was introduced in 2012 to replace the previous abbreviation TL.
Historically, the lira has undergone several redenominations, most recently in 2005 when six zeros were removed to stabilize the economy after high inflation.
