The Córdoba is the official monetary unit of Nicaragua, introduced in 1912 to replace the peso. It is issued by the Banco Central de Nicaragua, the nation’s central bank, and is named after Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, the country’s founding figure.

One Córdoba is divided into 100 centavos and is commonly denoted by the symbol C$. Banknotes and coins feature prominent Nicaraguan historical figures, landmarks, and the national coat of arms, reflecting the country’s cultural heritage.
