Description

The Czech koruna is the official legal tender of the Czech Republic, introduced on 8 February 1993 following the split of Czechoslovakia. It is issued by the Czech National Bank and is denoted by the symbol Kč, which combines the letter K for koruna and a small c with a caron.

One koruna is divided into 100 haléřů, although haléř coins have not been minted since 2008 and are used only for accounting purposes. The currency is widely used in everyday transactions and remains the sole non‑euro currency among EU members, reflecting the Czech Republic’s independent monetary policy.
