The Swiss franc is the official currency of Switzerland and also serves as the legal tender in the neighboring Principality of Liechtenstein. Issued by the Swiss National Bank, it is renowned for its stability and is often considered a safe‑haven asset in global financial markets.

One franc is divided into 100 centimes (German: Rappen, French: centimes, Italian: centesimi). The currency is printed and minted in denominations ranging from 5 centimes up to 1 000 francs, and it features designs that reflect Switzerland’s multilingual heritage and iconic symbols such as the Swiss cross and famous alpine scenery. A quirky fact: despite Switzerland not being a member of the Eurozone, the franc is still widely accepted in border regions and is one of the few currencies that is still produced with a high proportion of metal coins.
