The Argentine peso is the official currency of Argentina, issued by the Banco Central de la República Argentina. It is subdivided into 100 centavos, though centavo coins are rarely used in everyday transactions due to inflation.

Argentina has experienced several currency reforms, most notably the 1992 introduction of the peso convertible that was pegged to the US dollar, and the 2002 devaluation that led to the current peso. Persistent high inflation has resulted in frequent updates to banknote designs and the circulation of high‑denomination notes such as the 1,000 and 2,000 peso bills.
