The Afghan afghani is the official currency of Afghanistan, issued by the Da Afghanistan Bank, the nation’s central bank. It is subdivided into 100 puls, although the puls coins are no longer in circulation, making the afghani effectively a non‑decimal unit in everyday transactions.

Introduced in its modern form in 2005 after a series of revaluations, the afghani features national symbols such as the Afghan flag and historic landmarks on its banknotes. The currency symbol is ؋, but it is commonly represented by the ISO code in both domestic and international markets. Afghanistan’s primary languages are Dari and Pashto, and its citizens are referred to as Afghans.
