Description
Binance Coin (BNB) is the native utility token of the Binance ecosystem, originally launched in 2017 as an ERC‑20 token on the Ethereum blockchain to fund the Binance cryptocurrency exchange.
In 2019 Binance introduced its own blockchain, Binance Chain, and later Binance Smart Chain (now BNB Chain), migrating BNB to a native BEP‑20 token. BNB is used to pay transaction fees on the exchange, participate in token sales on Binance Launchpad, and fuel decentralized applications on BNB Chain.
The token is issued by Binance Holdings Ltd., a company incorporated in the Cayman Islands. BNB has a total supply capped at 200 million tokens, with a burn mechanism that periodically reduces the circulating supply.
